Three
Trains through the Rockies Tour - 9 Day
Highlights include Whistler Resort, Cariboo Goldrush Trail, Mount Robson,
Icefields Parkway, Jasper and Banff. Travel in style on a train odyssey
that few are lucky enough to experience. Travel on B.C. Rail's
"Prospector", Via Rail's "Skeena" and the first class
"Rocky Mountaineer" through the most impressive alpine vistas.
May through October BW0015
Day 1 Arrive
on your own at our Vancouver Hotel (as chosen) to begin this great adventure.
Day 2 Early
this morning we (Monday, Wednesday or Friday) transfer by taxi to the BC Rail
terminal in North Vancouver (not to be confused with VIA rail station
downtown). We embark to world famous Whistler Resort area. As
we travel we witness "Sea to Sky Country" as we travel along Howe
Sound and Pass Brandywine Falls. Arrive in Whistler with plenty of time to
explore the shops and excellent restaurants. Overnight Whistler.
Day 3 All
aboard the "Prospector" rail service bound for Prince George.
Enjoy terrific lunch and dinner on board as we thrill to the scenery of the
Cariboo Goldrush Trail. Pass historic 100 Mile House, Williams Lake and
Quesnel arriving in the heart of the North Woods. Overnight Prince George.
Day 4 We transfer
by taxi to the VIA Rail Station to board the next of our great trains.
Feast on breakfast and lunch aboard the "Skeena" en route to
Alberta's prettiest town, Jasper. We'll see the upper reaches of
the Fraser River and pass the tallest mountain in the Rockies, Mt. Robson.
Upon arrival in Jasper we are transferred to our hotel. There are
many fabulous restaurants to choose from this evening. A walk in
the cool and crisp mountain air will fuel our appetite.
Day 5 An
early morning departure will take you by motor coach along Canada's most scenic
route, the incredible Icefields Parkway. Your tour includes a stop
at the Columbia Iceields Interpretive Center where we board a Sno-Coach
(included) for a journey onto the Athabasca Glacier (not included). In the
afternoon we are treated to a brief stop at Lake Louise. Continue to Banff
for our overnight.
Day 6
After a hearty breakfast we discover Banff on our informative
tour which includes the Sulphur Mountain Gondola. The views from the peak
carry on for miles. We'll take in the local sights and then have the
afternoon free to shop and rub elbows with the locals. Overnight
Banff.
Day 7 We are transferred this morning to the Banff Train Station
for one of the most renowned train journeys anywhere. Second only to the
Trans-Canada in its grandeur this is a special journey over the Continental
Divide and down the slopes past several mountain ranges to the Pacific Coast.
Wow! The first incredible twist is the trip through the famous
"Spiral Tunnels". Freight trains of 100 cars or more actually
twist in a circle inside the mountain and come back out of the mountain with the
front of the train over top of (or beneath) the back of the train.
Enjoy breakfast and lunch on board as we follow the Kicking Horse River past
glaciers, snowsheds, and through many tunnels to Rogers Pass. Pass
Craigellachie where the last spike of the Canadian Pacific Railroads'
"Trans-continental" rail line was driven into the ground in 1885.
Our journey continues past Shuswap lake and along the South Thompson River to
Kamloops, British Columbia. We stop for the night and transfer to our
moderate hotel.
Day
8 Board
the train and we are served breakfast at our seats while watching the sage and
pine country of the interior plateau roll by us. Follow the Thompson
River through the Fraser Canyon, pass Hell's Gate and continue along the Coastal
Mountains and down onto the fertile Fraser Valley. This afternoon as we
roll into Pacific Central Station in pretty Vancouver, British Columbia.
Transfers are included to our hotel.
Day 9 Check
out from our hotel to end the tour or we can pre-book additional nights for a
visit of Vancouver and even Victoria, British Columbia.
Mondays,
Wednesdays and Fridays. Prices start at only $1395 Canadian (+tax) (Low
season early May) or $2059USD with peak travel time prices of $2558.00CAD (1649USD).

per day pp.
