Prudhoe Bay North Explorer - 4 Days
Experience the lands north of the Arctic Circle as well as the areas bordering the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. You'll travel to Prudhoe Bay to dip a toe in the Arctic Ocean and take in the scenery along the famed James Dalton Highway through caribou country. In this land of the Midnight Sun the wildlife, wilderness and memories never end.
Day 1: Fairbanks
We'll pick you up at the airport and transfer you to your Fairbanks hotel. The rest of the day is free to explore Alaska's "Golden Heart City". There are optional Fairbanks activities to enjoy including an Alaskan salmon bake or the Palace Theatre & Saloon so go ahead and kick up your heels.
Day 2: Fairbanks – Coldfoot
This morning it's off to the Arctic Circle. You’ll travel aboard one of our deluxe motor coaches as we venture north along the James Dalton Highway, also known as the “Haul Road,” so named as it was the supply route for the pipeline workers during construction of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline. Arrive in Coldfoot for a night’s stay.
(The large motorcoach is used on Wednesdays only. On all other days of the week the tour is more personal by using a 12 passenger van.)
Day 3: Coldfoot – Prudhoe Bay
Continue your northern odyssey as we travel into the lands of the North Slope. Be on the lookout for caribou, musk ox, ptarmigan and fox as we skirt the Arctic National Widlife Refuge and approach the land of the Midnight Sun. This evening spend the night in Deadhorse, on the outskirts of the Prudhoe Bay facility.
Day 4: Prudhoe Bay – Anchorage
You'll tour the area of the oilfields and venture to the edge of the Arctic Ocean for a "toe dip". Then it's off to Alaska's largest city on your flight south. Crossing the Arctic Circle makes you a member of the Arctic Circle Club complete with certificate. Your tour ends upon arrival in Anchorage.
